Good thread to identify what needs to happen with the configuration, I believe we need to process the cocoon.xconf and pull out any relevant details about file upload for example and do a test of various file sizes to verify its working correctly.
Mark Ok, I've verified the configuration of properties using WEB-INF/cocoon/properties/core.properties is functional and copied all defaults into place so that its clear where these are to be correctly configured now.

after the cocoon 2.2 update the xmlui is not more able to manage "big" file upload (> 100Kb).
I have found this thread that should solve the issue but I'm not enought expert of coocon to do it myself:
